The Warn story starts in 1948 in Seattle, Washington, when Arthur Warn invented a locking hub system for surplus World War II Jeeps — a device that converted thousands of ex-military vehicles into practical, everyday 4WD machines. By 1954, major automakers were offering Warn hubs as optional factory equipment. In 1959, Warn developed the world's first recreational electric winch, the Model 6000, which changed off-road recovery forever by enabling self-rescue without engine power. The iconic M8274, introduced in 1974, became the industry standard that competitors have spent decades trying to match. Today, Warn manufactures over 500 products from its facility in Clackamas, Oregon — including electric and hydraulic winches for trucks, ATVs, UTVs, and commercial vehicles, locking hubs, bumpers, and recovery accessories. The brand holds over 127 U.S. patents, has supplied the U.S. military, and maintains OEM relationships with Ford and Chrysler. When the off-road community needs to get unstuck, Warn is the brand they reach for first.
